Yes you’ll be making the hourly, but in 12 years of bartending, my hourly rate has never been the factor of how much money I’ve made. I can almost guarantee if there is any state that has restrictions again, it will be WA. I have had 5 close friends outright have to close bars that were extremely successful. Hours of almost everywhere are reduced and everyone I know in the service industry makes about a third of what they did before Covid. The NW in general is not where to look for bartending work currently. I’m very well versed as a bartender and have worked everywhere from venues, dives, high end craft cocktail and everything in between. Prior I lived and bartended in Seattle for over a decade and was close to making 100k a year pre Covid. Personally moving to Tacoma was the worst possible decisions I ever could have made for my career.
